By the time you read this the big event of the year has already happened. The Eclipse has come and gone, and I have all the faith that we are still here. The solar eclipse is a powerful celestial event where the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, obscuring the Sun’s light.
For many people in ancient times, a total solar eclipse generated fear. They thought the world would end or a great evil would follow. Myths often involved a beast trying to destroy the Sun with the fate of Earth hanging in the balance, or a Sun god becoming angry, sad, or sick. I have been asked many times in the past month about the ending of the world. The Rapture where people will be taking off the streets, or out of their cars, businesses, or even in restaurants. The second coming of Christ, for a lot of people is a stressful time. When the time comes and Christ comes for us, for many, it will be too late to worry.
Eclipses in general, including solar eclipses, can be seen as times to let go of old patterns, beliefs, or aspects of life that no longer serve one’s highest good. It should be a time to remember who is in control. Science can tell you how it happens, when it will happen, and why it may happen, but like the children’s story, who hung the moon in the sky?
The time to worried about the end of time, the second coming of Christ is yesterday, today, and tomorrow. A falcon can no longer hear the call of its owner as it flies around and around in a widening spiral. God is calling but it seems we do not hear Him either. It seems in our world the best people aren’t motivated to act, but the worse people are impassioned and eager. People are worried that the end is near, but I think God has not given up on us yet. He is still trying to give us a chance to change our lives. To change this world! It takes one person at a time. It can start with you, me, and the person in the car next to us. Do the right thing, say the right thing, and be the person of integrity. If we can’t change the world it will at least make each person who changes their life be ready when Christ comes.
As the darkness of the eclipse happens we can be afraid in the darkness, or we can be ready for the sun to appear again. We need to be diligent, watchful and live life in Gods light. That way even in the darkness of an eclipse or the darkness in our lives, when it comes, and it will come, we will look up to see Jesus, the SON, and He will shine on who ever follows him.
May Gods light shine on all of us.
